How much does an air conditioning refill cost?
The service costs €69 – this includes the complete filling process: vacuum creation, leak check, old gas extraction and refilling. The refrigerant required is calculated based on the actual amount filled and is added to the base price.
Why does the refrigerant decrease in the first place? It's quite normal: Air conditioning systems aren't absolutely closed systems. Over the years, a small amount of refrigerant escapes through micro-pores in hoses and seals – this isn't a defect, but simply normal aging. That's why we recommend maintenance every 1-2 years, before the air conditioning becomes noticeably less effective or blows completely warm.
Recharging air conditioning – R134a or R1234yf: What does your car need?
In our workshop, we work with the professional air conditioning charging station Ecotechnics ECK TWIN 12 – a new generation device that handles both refrigerants: R134a and R1234yf.
This means for you: whether it's an older vehicle or a modern car – we can refuel both without you having to worry about which gas your car needs. We determine that automatically.
The station carries out the complete service:
Evacuate the old refrigerant
creates a vacuum
Checks the tightness of the system
fills in the exact correct amount of the correct refrigerant
What do the refrigerants R1234yf and R134a mean?
These are two different gases, with R134a being used in vehicles up to the year of manufacture 2016. The gas R1234yf, on the other hand, is used in modern vehicles that comply with EU environmental standards.
Important: These two refrigerants must not be mixed. As our station is equipped with a professional system, mixing the gases is not possible.
When does the air conditioning need to be refilled?
The air conditioning usually indicates itself when something is wrong. You should not ignore these signs:
* Warm air is flowing out – the classic sign. The system is running, but is no longer cooling properly. Usually, there's simply a lack of refrigerant.
* Unpleasant smell – Does it smell musty or sour when switched on? This can indicate bacteria in the system, which form faster when there is too little refrigerant.
* Unusual noises – Clattering or hissing when switching on the air conditioning can indicate a drop in system pressure.
Hasn't been serviced for 1-2 years – even if everything still works: refrigerant naturally leaks out over time. Regular servicing avoids expensive consequential damage to the compressor.
