Clogged catalytic converter as the cause of loss of power
Common causes include unburnt fuel, misfires, a persistently rich fuel-air mixture, engine oil consumption, or problems with the ignition system. In such cases, residues and pollutants are no longer processed correctly, exhaust flow deteriorates, and back pressure increases.
Catalyst self-cleaning – why it doesn't always work
Fundamentally, a catalytic converter can partially burn itself clean at a sufficiently high exhaust temperature. However, with frequent engine malfunctions or already advanced blockages, this self-cleaning is no longer sufficient.
A heavily blocked catalyst often then leads to performance loss, poor response, increased fuel consumption, and in some cases also to noises from the exhaust system.

Professional replacement of the catalytic converter on an Audi A4
Master Dmitri raised the vehicle onto the lift and gradually began to remove the catalytic converter. As it was constantly exposed to high temperatures, the nuts and bolts were very difficult to loosen. This work took about two hours. After the replacement, a scanner was definitively connected to calibrate the system and ensure its correct operation.
