A customer came to us with a problem Savtrans Berlin garage, which could have serious consequences.
This is a Mercedes-Benz MB CL203 of the CLC-Class, a sports coupé, which was manufactured between 2000 and 2011. The driver gets out of the car but cannot close the door. When the door is pushed, the lock starts to close, opens and closes again. While driving, the door lock could have opened by itself, which could have led to undesirable consequences. We first carried out a visual inspection of the door for damage to the wiring. We then got a computer with the appropriate software for this brand.
Diagnosis: Faulty door lock on Mercedes CL203 – Causes & Findings
Our mechanic Oleg carried out an electronic diagnosis and established the following:
- The limit switch of the door lock remains permanently closed (short circuit in the switch).
There can be several causes for this disorder: - Wear of the mechanism (motor)
- Short circuit in the cabling
- Penetration of moisture
- Error in the control unit
- The door has closed
Procedure for replacing the door lock on a Mercedes CL203 in Berlin
Together with the customer, it was decided to completely replace the door lock, as the mechanism (motor) had failed and was no longer working properly. The fitter Oleg unscrewed the door handles, carefully removed the cover and began to remove the defective lock step by step without damaging other mechanisms of the door. The new lock was then installed, an electronic calibration and diagnosis was carried out, all parts of the door were reassembled in reverse order and a test was carried out. The lock successfully fulfilled its function of opening and closing the door without any malfunctions or short circuits. At first glance, the work does not appear to be complicated, but as it requires the utmost precision, this process took around two hours.
